Seiko launches a 100in version of ColorPainter

Seiko Instruments Infotech (SII) launched a 104in (2.64m) wide solvent ink-jet printer at Fespa.

The ColorPainter 100s builds on the firm's earlier ColorPainter 64s, and is also distributed in the UK by Colourgen.

It was designed to allow the simultaneous printing of two 50in-wide rolls of media and also feature a system using register marks to enable double-sided printing for producing banners.

Other features include the ability to print unlined mesh, which the firm claims represents a major cost saving over devices that need to use lined mesh.

It is available in six-colour and four-colour variants, the four-colour version has been produced to provide a low-cost option that competes with third-party ink supplies according to the firm. Capable of up to 33m2 per hour, in 540x720dpi mode the machine is capable of 20m2 per hour.

SII's Christian Legueu also revealed that the firm planned to launch a UV-cured flatbed machine next year.
