Screen launches 4,800dpi flexo platesetter

Screen has launched the PlateRite FX870II, which it claimed is the world's first flexo platesetter to offer a maximum resolution of 4,800dpi as a standard feature.

According to the manufacturer and supplier of pre-press components, the thermal platesetter's high-quality imaging technology enables a fast turnaround and is suitable for the flexo and letterpress markets.

The FX870II is designed to meet the needs of the packaging and labels markets, and its high resolution is said to "significantly improve" the smoothness of curves and diagonals.

Screen also said it provides "better productivity in every aspect of the CTP process".

The company has also launched Flexo Dot, a screening technology to improve highlight reproduction in flexo and letterpress printing. A choice of three different shaped dots can be chosen to best match printing conditions.
