MAN 12-unit with InlineSheeter finds first UK buyer

MAN Roland Great Britain has scored a major coup with its first UK order for a 12-unit B1 press with In-lineSheeter.

The R700 machine is believed to be destined for a Heidelberg house, but the identity of the customer and its location are being kept firmly under wraps for the time being.

Roland, which only began offering a 12-unit B1 option this year, is beginning to make important inroads into the long press with sheeter market, which has been dominated by Heidelberg with its Speedmaster 102 and CutStar sheeter.

Earlier this year, Garnett Dickinson revealed it would install the UKs first InlineSheeter when it took delivery of its eight-unit Roland 700 perfector this autumn (PrintWeek, 21 June).

The InlineSheeter is manufactured by Rolands sister firm Mabeg. It can handle cut-offs between 450mm and 740mm and runs at speeds of up to 22,000sph.

Heidelberg, however, still has a strong lead on Roland with CutStar installations at Anton Group, Ashprint Press, Eclipse Colour Print, Excelprint and Stephens & George among others.
