The rigid sheets are designed for mounting flexo and gravure printed flexibles for applications including interior signage and temporary PoP applications.
The firm is promoting it as an alternative to foam boards and corrugated cards, and claims that finished pieces look better as they retain a flat surface, unlike corrugated materials where the underlying structure shows through.
"We believe that Falconboard Mount is the first backing board that can offer all of the desirable attributes – heavy duty structural performance, easy to adhere to, pleasing aesthetics and the environmental benefits of a paper-based structure – in a cost-competitive manner," said Hexacomb president Jeff Kellar.
The board is available in widths of up to 1.524m and in thicknesses of 5mm-10cm and can be cut and routed.
Up to 40% of the board can comprise recycled paper, and depending on the lamination of the print applied to it can be treated as paper waste for recycling.
Mount joins Hexacomb’s two direct-to substrates: Falconboard Print and Falconboard Build, a structural material.
