The 24-person, £3.2m company will now enter the Antalis group following the 4 April deal, with The Packaging Company CEO Mark Charles calling the sale an “exciting new chapter for our business”.
He said: “This partnership provides significant opportunities to accelerate our growth, expand our technical packaging range, and further innovate sustainable solutions. Our customers will benefit greatly from access to enhanced resources and the latest packaging technologies. We look forward to collaborating closely to shape the future of packaging.”
Antalis said the move would both expand its UK presence and enhance its service for UK packaging clients by adding bespoke quantities and non-standard box sizes to Antalis' offering. The UK-registered Antalis Limited bought The Packaging Company in full. There is no immediate plan to rebrand the new subsidiary, and all employees have been retained, alongside the company's management structure, which will work in collaboration with Antalis' UK team.
“We are delighted to welcome The Packaging Company (Midlands) Limited into the Antalis family,” said Hervé Poncin, CEO of Antalis.
“Their expertise in bespoke packaging and manufacturing complements our dedication to delivering innovative and tailored solutions. This acquisition embodies our commitment to developing high-performance, sustainable, and reusable packaging options, empowering us to meet evolving market demands effectively.”
Nicholas Thompson, Antalis’ managing director for UK&I, added: "The talented and dedicated team at The Packaging Company (Midlands) is known for its creativity, exceptional service, and customer-focused approach. We will unlock new opportunities together, delivering even more innovative, sustainable, and customised packaging solutions to delight our customers."
Antalis said there was already a “smooth transition” underway to ensure uninterrupted service for the company’s customers and business partners.
In October 2024, Antalis struck a deal to become the sole distributor of Xerox-branded papers in the EMEA region.
Headquartered in Paris, Antalis operates in 32 countries, employing 4,200 worldwide. Its owner since 2020, the Japanese KPP Group Holdings Co, turns over approximately ¥644 bn (£3.43bn) billion annually.
