ECRM adds automation features to WorkMates software

Pre-press manufacturer and software developer ECRM has launched the next version of its entry-level workflow, WorkMates 4.0.

ECRM said that the update introduces a raft of automation features, such as automating relationships between hot folders.

RIPed output files can be copied directly to multiple pre-defined folders, ensuring that the file sent to proof is the same as that sent to plate.

In addition, jobs can be automatically prioritised, archived or deleted, according to the policy set by the administrator.

According to ECRM, WorkMates 4.0 offers more control over automated processes, such as the ability to hold jobs from being processed automatically, and management options now include more information on job tracking and history.

Its Imposition Template Printing feature enables pre-press operators to send imposition data to the pressroom by printing an imposition template from a Windows-based desktop.

"WorkMates is specifically engineered to help small- to mid-sized commercial printers to simplify and automate standard production tasks," said ECRM's director of product management John Marzec.

"What customers like is that WorkMates is scalable. If a printer decides that they want stochastic screening or color critical ICC-matched proofs, all they need to do is add a plug-in module. WorkMates simplifies digital pre-press workflow issues and increases efficiency through significantly reduced pre-press, makeready and production times."

ECRM exhibited WorkMates 4.0, which is available now, at the Graphics of the Americas 2010 on 25-27 February, in Miami Beach, Florida.
