Childs has been with Xerox for 15 years and took up the graphic arts post
last October following the retirement of Alistair Summers.
"Marcus was looking for further challenges over and above graphic arts. India is a big, big country and a big, big challenge," said Dowlatshahi-Gordon. Xerox employs around 3,000 staff in India and has sales of £200m ($300m).
Dowlatshahi-Gordon said: "I’m very excited to get my hands on graphic arts. It’s been a very strong year for us with 45% growth year on year. A lot is down to Marcus’ outstanding work."
The departure of Childs has brought forward a planned internal organisational restructure at Xerox. Each of the group’s three business areas – office, production and services – will have a director who reports directly to UK managing director Stephen Cronin.
