The participating members of staff are currently working towards NVQ Level 2 qualifications on 12-month courses that began in June. Once completed, the participants can opt to go further to gain a Level 3 NVQ qualification and then choose to undertake another course of their choice.
Staff participating in the Level 2 courses will be given monthly assignments as part of their course work, along with monthly visits from an assessor to review the work that is being undertaken and completed.
The training programme is part of the firm’s development initiative for its team, providing a training and career path where they can develop their skills and broaden their industry knowledge.

Many team members do want to study and gain further knowledge about various topics, however it can be hard working full-time and then studying part-time,” said Baker Goodchild managing director Lorraine Burnell.
“It is essential to maintain a work-life balance and, for our team members who want to work and study, we help them by adjusting the hours they work, giving them the time needed to complete assignments. Education is priceless and there is nothing more rewarding than giving a colleague the opportunity to better themselves.”
Marketing executive Mohammed Pandair is taking the Team Leading and Team Management courses, account director Matthew Perkins is taking the Business Administration course and international mailing specialist Kris Nero and data laser executive Asif Mohammed are both on an IT Support System course.
Credit controller Nicola Broadmore is taking the Business Administration course, account manager Bally Bahia is on the Business Management course, mail machine engineer Ciaran Malloy is taking the Team Leading and Team Management course and warehouse apprentice Kevin Green is studying Warehouse and Storage Management.
“I have noticed some of the members of staff can now complete certain tasks using various methodologies that they may have previously struggled with. Overall we are witnessing a positive impact from this educational experience,” said Burnell.
Privately owned Birmingham-based Baker Goodchild provides print, mail and postage services for business owners, SMEs and entrepreneurs.
