Mohammed Pandhair and Asif Mohammed have been appointed to full-time roles within the Birmingham-based firm after completing their respective university courses.
A third apprentice, Connor Sadik, is currently three months into his role as campaign co-ordinator.
Mohammed Pandhair has been appointed to the role of marketing executive, having been taken on by the firm as a marketing intern during the third year of his four-year course at Kingston University.
He will be responsible for increasing traffic to the Baker Goodchild website and increasing the number of new customers. He will also be responsible for developing and executing the firm’s marketing strategies.
“It has boosted my drive and ambition and given me a clear view of the career path I would like to follow. I hope to work my way up as a marketing manager within the next couple of years,” he said.
Asif Mohammed, who studied for three years at Birmingham Metropolitan College, was taken on by the company as a data and laser apprentice. He has now been appointed to the role of data and laser executive.
He will be responsible for processing and managing client data and ensuring a high level of data security and quality checks are in place.
“I have successfully attained Level 1 and 2 qualifications In English, maths and IT and also gained recognised industrial qualifications during my internship,” he said.
“I would like to develop further knowledge and experience within the IT sector at Baker Goodchild and would like to see myself managing a small team of data and laser apprentices within the company.”
Both roles were newly created within the firm. “We wanted to enhance our branding and market ourselves to gain new business opportunities,” said managing director Lorraine Burnell.
“We also felt we needed to expand our IT department and wanted a new member of staff to help us achieve our deadlines to meet our customer expectations quicker.”
The firm has taken on a number of apprentices and interns in the past to support its own growth and the development of young people. To date, all of the apprentices it has taken on have become full time employees of the business.
“Internships are very important to the structure of our business. We have opened these roles to give opportunities to those individuals who want to get onto their desired career path in life,” said Burnell.
“As a business we benefit from recruiting interns as it gives us the opportunity to train these people. Then we are able to offer them full-time employment once they are trained and they help us move the business forward to hit our aims and targets.“
