While several sheetfed press manufacturers have launched inline spectrophotometers for closed loop colour control at this Drupa, they only measure the colour bar and not critical colour areas in the job.
SpectraCon, which can be fitted to sheetfed and web presses and used as part of a closed loop control system, measures both strips and image areas with a resolution down to 1mm. Pricing starts at €47,000 (£37,500).
The company already has installations in Switzerland and Germany, and is in discussions with press vendors about integrating the technology into their machines.
It is showing a demonstration on its stand in the Drupa Innovation Park (Hall7) and on the Edelmann stand (Hall 13/A73).
Chief executive Theodor Tatarczyk is a veteran of web inspection and colour control developments and designed manroland's inline density control system.
Theta System at Drupa with inline spectral measuring system
German process control firm Theta System has launched spectraCon, an inline spectral measuring system that can measure colour in the image areas.
