It was always going to take a special performance to top this hotly-contested category and Taylor Bloxham managed just that, demonstrating great attention to detail and exceptional quality across all of its entries. Calibre, the bi-annual magazine of premium watch retailer Watches of Switzerland, stood out in particular, gaining plaudits from the judges for the high level of detail throughout. The challenge for Taylor Bloxham was to match the high quality of the previous German printer, which had produced the magazine using a very fine screen. Fortunately for the Leicester-based company, it was able to do just that, printing it using a 240lpi line screen that gave extremely fine detail to the customer-supplied files and delivered a very smooth and even gradient to any tints. The judges were blown away by the reproduction of skin tones and overall high quality of the finish.

St Ives Peterborough

St Ives Peterborough rounds off a trilogy of accolades at this year's awards with a commendation for its work on a magazine to celebrate Selfridges' centenary, which the judges described as a "brilliantly produced large-format product". This was the customer's first encounter with double-circumference presses and St Ives Peterborough worked hard to manage the very high level of expectation, holding multiple pre-production meetings and running two print trials. The skill of the shopfloor staff shone through in producing a great result on low-grammage paper.
