The firm, which works with a number of publishers, tour operators and retailers, provides a mix of 70% web offset, 20% gravure and 10% sheetfed substrates. This service is designed to make sure customers are aware of the paper they are using and all the alternatives that are available.
Every six months clients automatically receive practical suggestions for alternatives to the products they currently use.
Media Paper Management does this by conducting an in-depth analysis of the firm’s purchases as well as of other suitable products that it could be using.
Data is sent to clients in spreadsheet format, which is accompanied by a selection of samples. At least two alternative products are suggested, one of which is always an environmentally friendly option.
The sales team then follow up on the original pack to assist any customers that are interested in making a change to their current products.
The firm has been running a similar service since it was founded in 2002, although this is the first time that it has been timetabled.
Managing director Doug Jessop says: “The scheme means that we can never become complacent and it keeps our customers informed on all the available options. At the same time it encourages the use of recycled papers.”
The programme is part of the company’s ongoing environmental and customer service drive to improve its offering to its customers. This has also included gaining FSC and PEFC accreditation and taking steps to become carbon neutral.
