EcoXtreme LT comes in six colours, CMYK, light cyan and light magenta, and has been designed for the firm’s AdvancedJet machines including the AJ-1000 and AJ-740 printers.
“We were finding a lot of our customers were using third-party inks because of the cost,” said the firm’s head of sales James Hobday.
“The problem with that is you can lose consistency and quality of colour and the machines can become clogged.
“EcoXtreme LT is competitively priced and well suited for high-mix, high-volume production of short-term graphics like event and campaign signage, tradeshow and expo graphics and temporary retail displays,” he said.
The firm said a litre of EcoXtreme LT is 75% cheaper than rival inks, arguing that a print run of around 1,000sqm over 25 hours would only cost around £450. It claimed that it may cost up to £2,000 using a competitor’s ink.
The inks have an outdoor life of around a year making them suitable for promotional banners and posters, as a typical campaign will only last around six months.
“It’s more a campaign ink than a signage ink,” said Hobday.
He added that the new ink is quite friendly to the working environment, requiring around six air changes an hour. “Some other inks need more intense forced air extraction directly from the press,” he said.
