What is it?
The range consists of coated and uncoated papers, with gloss, silk, matt and offset finishes and three specific levels of recycled content. It is manufactured in Europe at three paper mills. These papers are carbon balanced, meaning that the manufacturer pays for offsetting.
“The varying levels of recycled fibre content and finishes provides an excellent choice for clients wishing to specify a printed product on recycled paper,” says marketing director Peter Sommerville. “The addition of Revive Recycled 100 Media with a lower grammage range has opened up many possibilities for use in the magazine and brochure sector.”
What’s its history?
Denmaur had previously sold the same coated and uncoated range under the name Amadeus Recycled. It bought the Revive brand name from the administrators of Paperlinx last November, and since then has been setting up its product and service offerings for commercial and magazine print. “In truth the Revive brand had a stronger recycled heritage in the industry going back to the early 2000s,” says Sommerville. “Unfortunately it became a little unloved and underinvested in during recent years by the previous owners. We took the decision to morph Amadeus Recycled into Amadeus Revive for a brief period before subsequently relaunching Revive in April 2016.”
Revive was officially launched at Denmaur’s climate change agreement (COP21) seminar on 26 April. Sustainability manager Danny Doogan, announced that every tonne of paper supplied is carbon balanced, being offset free of charge via the World Land Trust.
What are the applications?
Revive 50, 75 and 100 are intended for use in high-end publications, report and accounts, and brochures such as college and university prospectuses. They are suitable for litho and most digital presses.
Revive 100 Media is an extension to the range, available for both sheetfed and heat-set web offset. It’s mainly intended for magazines but is also suited to catalogues, brochures, inserts and direct mail.
How does it work
These are recycled papers that are said to perform as well as virgin fibres. “Revive 100 coated in 50, 75 and 100 provides superb smooth print surface and whiteness,” says Sommerville. “It can easily be used on complex multi-colour jobs as well as embossing, foil blocking and metallics. Revive 50 and 100 Offset is manufactured to an excellent brightness and bulk providing the option for a more natural, softer look and feel within a publication or brochure. Revive 100 Media is manufactured in gloss, silk and matt finishes, with lower-medium brightness associated with standard lightweight coated magazine papers.”
What’s the USP?
According to Sommerville: “Revive offers differing levels of recycled content to meet the clients’ needs but with the 50 and 75 recycled the balance will always be made up with FSC virgin pulp.
“Plus the paper is both recycled fibre content and carbon balanced. This scheme offsets the emissions associated with paper production and delivery of the paper and is provided free of charge via our partners the CarbonCo, the UK managers of Carbon Balanced Paper on behalf of the World Land Trust. Revive 100 Offset has also been third party audited by the WWF ‘Check Your Paper’ service, resulting in a 98% score.”
What’s the UK sales target?
“Denmaur is targeting 10,000 tonnes per year within the next 12 months and we are well on the way to achieving this target,” says Sommerville.
