The device, which has an automated set-up, was first shown at Kama’s joint open house with HP Indigo earlier this month.
The machine has been designed for short and medium-length runs as well as dealing with frequent and very fast job changes. It can also be set up quickly for different products and formats.
It features the newly developed ‘APA System’ (automated plough-length adjustment), which makes it possible to adjust the folding belts automatically in both transverse and longitudinal direction.
As a result changeovers, which often take hours on conventional equipment, can now be performed in minutes, according to Friedheim.
The device is capable of handling straight-line boxes, crash-lock boxes and telescope boxes, as well as operating at a speed of 200m/min. It is also capable of processing cardboard from 180-600gsm and micro-flute from 0.4-0.9mm.
Friedheim sales manager for converting products John Harrison said: “Because of its ability to change over so quickly, this machine is going to be of particular interest to companies running ultra-short runs, whether they’re printing them on offset or digital presses.
“This machine is currently being exhibited at shows in the US and China and from July it will be available as a production machine with a price competitive to typical machines of that format.”
Meanwhile, the company will use next month’s Sign & Digital UK exhibition to demonstrate the Lasercomb ProDigi NEO 2517 large-format multi-functional digital cutting system for the first time at a UK event.
The model is one in a range of larger format machines specifically developed by Lasercomb for the signage, packaging and display industries.
A modular tool concept is a key feature of the device and the machine being demonstrated on the stand will incorporate a 1kW milling spindle with tooling for handling several different types of materials, as well as an oscillating cutting unit.
The firm will also offer information on a wide variety of alternative finishing processes at the show from other companies within its converting division; Kohmann, Vega Group and Stock, as well as from its other divisions.

Sign & Digital UK 2015 will take place in Halls 17 and 18 at Birmingham’s NEC from 24 to 26 March.
