He said digital print in the sector was likely to target the pharmaceutical and carton markets and that Xerox was in the final processes of developing the technology. The iGen3 is currently being tested with an inline UV coater.
“I think we are now delivering a solution that is viable,” said Taylor. “It will be huge for the packaging sector and could change that market. It will cover more of the niche markets. We have spent four to five years developing this.”
Back in 2005, Xerox announced that it would target a range of new markets, including packaging, consumer imaging and transactional mailings.
Taylor reiterated Xerox’s commitment to the book market and added that the company would be targeting publishers as well as printers in the future.
