Xerox used its Xchange customer event in Birmingham this week to launch its first litho presses in the UK.
The first model, the DocuColor 233 DI, will
get its first UK showing at Print UK in September in conjunction with an as yet unconfirmed partner thought to be Litho Supplies, although neither firm would confirm this.
Were in the final throes of arranging a sole UK agent, said Anoush Gordon, Xerox UK director of business group operations and marketing.
We dont profess to be experts in that market. An agent brings something to the party in terms of experience of conventional print.
But he added: There will be a formal announcement at Print UK and the 233 DI will be there.
The DocuColor 233 DI is a portrait-format B3 DI press based on the Ryobi 3404 DI, which was developed by Ryobi and Presstek.
Xeroxs other DI press, the DocuColor 400 DI, will come to the UK about a month after the 233.
The DocuColor user group was also given an update at Xchange on the development of Xeroxs next-generation digital press project, the FutureColor.
Further details of the FutureColor will be announced at Ipex, where it will be given its first European showing. This will not be the actual launch of the press, but it will be present with print samples to take away.
Controlled sales will begin at the end of next year in Europe, which Gordon said was on target.
Xerox will also use Ipex to announce new monochrome and highlight colour machines.
