Waddies has had discussions with Xerox about taking its next-generation DI presses and FutureColor on trial when they are ready.
The Livingston-based direct mail printer is a Xerox Premier Partner and development house. It already runs several Xerox digital presses including a DocuPrint 500, one DocuPrint 180, and a DocuColor 100 for short-run colour.
It is also running one of its two DocuPrint 1300s as a development machine for Xerox.
Chief executive Iain Pittman said the firm was talking about taking on the new presses in a development role.
Waddies completed the acquisition of Polton Press last month (PrintWeek, 4 May) and is realigning itself into two distinct divisions financial services and Waddies Marketing Services.
The groups sales, which should hit 33m this year, are split approximately 60-40 in favour of financial services.
Xerox confirmed Waddies had shown an interest in taking the Presstek DI-based press and FutureColor.
