Xerox has suspended sales of its DocuColor 233 DI press in the UK while it reviews its digital colour product portfolio.
"Theres nothing definitive at the moment, it may be launched in the UK in a different way, we may pick it up and run with it or discontinue it," said DocuColor product marketing manager Kevin ODonnell.
Xerox is weighing up the potential number of installations against the cost of supporting the product with OEM Presstek and UK dealer Litho Supplies.
"There are no sales in the UK. Clearly that is partly down to getting the necessary organisation in place," said ODonnell.
"We are in discussion to make sure the technical and service resources are in place before we make the first installation," said Litho Supplies joint managing director Gerry Mulvaney. "Were still very enthusiastic about the product and there is a lot of interest."
If Xerox chooses not to sell the 233DI in the UK it opens up the possibility for KBA to launch its 46 Karat in the UK should Presstek choose to offer it the rights.
Xerox will make a decision within the next two weeks.
