Walkers (MCR) calls in administrators

Point-of-purchase printer Walkers (MCR) has become the latest print company to fall victim to the recession, appointing administrators this week.

The Manchester-based company appointed insolvency practitioners MCR earlier this week, it is unclear at this stage what is behind the collapse of the business.

A spokesman for MCR said it expected to make an announcement tomorrow. Philip Duffy has been appointed as lead administrator.

The company is the 13th print business with a turnover of more than £5m to go into administration this year.

According to the latest accounts filed at Companies House for the year ending April 2007, the company had a turnover of £7.5m, down from £8.7m the previous year. The company recorded a profit of £430,000.

It is believed that Walkers has around 80 staff.
