Targetcolour to offer eProof

Targetcolour is aiming to radically alter the proofing workflow with Cyan Softwares eProof product.

According to Targetcolour managing director Niall Coady, eProof can provide a soft proofing system based on off-the-shelf screens and colour management to provide consistent proofs from the designer to the press minder.

The press minder can match the press to what was seen further back in the workflow, said Coady. It gives the minder more of an idea of what the designer intended.

Several UK firms are testing eProof, which was developed by Cyprus-based Cyan Software, including London pre-press house First Edition Response and some large groups. So far an advertising agency and a point of sale printer have ordered the software following successful trials.

The biggest eProof user is Ford, which uses the software across Europe.

Coady claimed that compared to rival soft proofing software, such as Kodak Polychrome Graphics RealTimeImage, eProof was faster, supported a wider range of file formats, had better text annotation and editing and better support for ICC colour management.
