Active 3D RIP automatically generates ideal dot-dimensions across the whole tonal range and allows the formation of tailor-made negative and positive dot-shapes.
The software tool offers flexibility when determining dot dimensions, from 1% to 99% density and allows for unlimited dot depth variables, from zero to maximum.
Active 3D RIP is claimed to require minimal manual input with the operator determining the ideal three-dimensional shape for the smallest and largest dot.
All dot-sizes and shapes are then automatically generated by the RIP.
In addition, the software gives the operator the freedom to create virtually any shoulder steepness required and is claimed to cut tonal loss in half compared with existing 3D dot shaping techniques used in the direct laser engraving process.
Stork Prints Austria product manager graphics Jan Boerkamp said "direct laser engraving offers clear benefits over other UV and ablation mask alternatives".
Boerkamp added: "The additional time-saving, quality-enhancing features of Active 3D-RIP give another boost to the competitiveness of direct laser engraving and flexo printing itself".
