Stevenson, who joined the company in the newly created role in June, will be responsible for managing and boosting the sales of graphics consumables, inks and medias within London and the South East of England.
“SMGG already had some graphics hardware salespeople but found that it was missing on inks and medias. The fact that I’ve been doing that in previous roles meant that it fitted quite well,” said Stevenson.
“My main role is to launch our range of medias for the wide-format market, which we're calling Red Tube. I’ve done a lot of research into that, I’ve gone to the manufacturing plants in Europe and made sure that the range does everything we need it to do, particularly for latex machines.
“Also, as I’ve got experience in selling wide-format printers, UV flatbeds and laminators, I’m recommending those if I come across them. I’m really looking forward to using my considerable experience in the graphics sector to help SMGG grow its business.”
Prior to joining SMGG, Stevenson worked for two years at Spandex where he was responsible for selling wide-format media and signage products. He also previously worked at CWE Solutions and Perfect Colours selling printers, laminators, RIPs and consumables to the wide-format print sector.
SMGG director Adrian Painter said: “Bob is a great addition to our team. We aim to double our graphics and signage sector turnover in the next year and increase our share of what remains an exciting growth market. Bob’s appointment is key to this strategy.”
The Worcester-headquartered company, which employs around 100 staff, offers wide-format products from companies including Canon, Epson, HP, Mimaki, Mutoh and Océ, as well as associated consumables and finishing equipment.
