Screen aims to outperform rivals in large-format film production by launching an imagesetter that exposes 20 eight-up films an hour.
The B1+ Tanto 6120 offers increased productivity and speed-to-press for eight-page imposed film, said UK sales manager Bui Burke.
Screen based the 89,000 machine on the Tanto 5120, which fired out about 16 sheets of film an hour and notched up 650 sales.
We have always held a high percentage of the market share, and to keep it we needed to raise the bar for performance, he said.
Speeding the drum from 420rpm to 510rpm, and the rate of data input, helped improve its speed, he said.
Maximum image size is 810x1,120mm and output resolution goes from 1,200dpi to 4,000dpi.
Screen RIPs such as Trueflow, TaigaSpace, and its Harlequin-based HQ-510 can all be used to drive the new Tanto, which comes with a three-year warranty.
