Scitex Vision has launched the new generation of its Grandjet wide-format digital printers, which it claims runs 50-70% faster than previous models.
Grandjet S comes in three widths - 2m, 3m and 5m - and the widest machine now runs at 74m2 per hour. Improvements have also been made to the ink: the new formula, JV300, offers two-year durability and a wider colour gamut.
"For example, we were having problems with Coca-Cola red before but we can do that now," said marketing manager Jan Denies.
The four-colour machine can print on "virtually any roll-to-roll medium" including self-adhesive vinyl, PVC, flex-face banner and carpet. Users can choose from a variety of RIPs including the Cheetah, which is commonly used with the company's Idanit Novo range.
Prices for the S series start at 182,000 (2m), 247,000 (3m) and 285,500 (5m). Users of the Grandjet V, which the new S series replaces, can upgrade to the new spec at a cost of 6,250 (e10,000).
"The upgrade option is the main advantage, it means the user's investment is protected," said Denies.
