The family-owned firm is headquartered in Basel, with a UK office in London. It began life in 1892 as a supplier to the leather goods trade.
The firm’s strapline is “culture in covering” and its range of specialist materials is widely used in applications such as packaging, books and stationery. Winter & Company brands include Nabuka, Wibalin, Wintex and Suedel Luxe.
UK managing director Steve Burdett said he was proud that the business had retained its family business ethos over the years. “Despite being a global company we are still a family business at the core and those values are felt throughout the group,” he said.
The firm is marking the anniversary by producing a special commemorative limited edition poster, which will be printed by Heidelberg and available at its Spring Open House on 29-30 March at Heidelberg’s Brentford facility.
The poster will be printed on a number of Winter & Company substrates including its main uncoated paper range Wibalin, coated paper Corvon Shimmer and cloth range Wicotex Magic, a natural woven rayon cloth with a sparkle woven into the material. Kashgar, a woven material “with the natural lustre of real satin”, will also be used.
Winter & Company staff will be in attendance at the Heidelberg event. Its substrates will be shown running on a Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 75-4 with LED curing, Inpress Control 2 and Push to Stop technology as part of the presentation schedule, with the special posters available as one of the giveaways.
