Strengthens presence in folding cartons

Grenadier lauds Kentmere buy

Kentmere was originally established in 1906

Grenadier Packaging has expanded with the acquisition of folding cartons specialist Kentmere Packaging.

Grenadier Packaging is owned by Grenadier Holdings (formerly Paragon Group).

Kentmere was established in 1906 and is based in Staveley, Cumbria. It specialises in products for clients in the food and drink, and household and beauty sectors, including printed cartons, sleeves and trays.

Clients include Aldi, Lidl, Asda, Sainsbury’s and Mars.

The £7.2m-turnover firm joins Dean Packaging, Smithpack and Trenton at the expanding packaging group.

Ross Diamond, joint managing director of Grenadier Packaging, said the deal represented a significant step forward for the business.

“Kentmere Packaging has built an outstanding business, and we are committed to preserving what makes it special while also introducing new opportunities for growth and investment,” he said.

“We look forward to working closely with the Kentmere Packaging team and their valued customers to build an even stronger future together.”

Fellow joint MD Aidan Cahill added: “Bringing Kentmere Packaging into Grenadier Packaging allows us to expand our reach and capabilities in sustainable packaging solutions. We are excited about the possibilities this partnership will unlock.

“Our priority is ensuring a seamless transition while continuing to deliver the exceptional service our customers expect.”

Grenadier acquired the business from shareholders including Shaun and Kathleen Mulvaney, who will step back.

Kentmere managing director Nick Bramfitt remains with the business.

He said the Kentmere team was genuinely excited to be joining forces with a group and senior management team that shared the firm’s values and vision for the future.

“Grenadier Packaging’s long-term strategy and investment mindset bring fantastic opportunities for our team, our customers, and our development as a business. This partnership allows us to continue doing what we do best – while unlocking new potential for innovation and growth.”

The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Grenadier Packaging said the acquisition would strengthen its presence in the folding carton sector, complementing its cartons and luxury packaging offering at Trenton.

It also aligns with Grenadier Packaging’s broader growth strategy of expanding its capabilities across both cartonboard and corrugated packaging, with Dean Packaging and Smithpack offering industrial packaging and packaging for transport and logistics.

Grenadier Holdings has global sales of €1.6bn (£1.34bn) across its Packaging, Graphic Services, Paragon ID and Paragon companies.
