??The Liverpool-based commercial printer produces brochures, booklets, folders, leaflets, postcards and corporate stationery. It has made the investment to replace an older five-colour Speedmaster SM 74.
??Nearly all the presses the company has installed since its inception have been from Heidelberg.
Barber & Co sales administrator Martyn Barber said: “We have a long relationship with Heidelberg and didn't consider any other alternatives. The SX 74-5 has been installed in the past week and it should generate further sales. It will increase efficiency with the faster running speed and quick makeready.”
??The investment will help the firm to meet the needs of its customers, the majority of whom are based in the North West and North Wales, who typically require jobs completed within 72 hours.
??The fifth unit will be used for special colours and to seal so that work goes through dry to the company’s finishing department.
??The £545,000 press will run on a double-day shift at the firm's 5,000sqm factory. The company, which has taken on more staff recently to supplement the investment, now employs 12 people.
??Speaking of the firm's plans for the future – and the next 100 years – Barber said: “We will continue to provide a professional, courteous and efficient service to our client base. We will embrace elements of modern technology whilst keeping with traditional methods when dealing with our customers.”
