Cooper, who previously held roles at Precision Printing and CGI Europe, will report to chief executive Mark Handford at Pureprint.
He is charged with broadening the company's digital product range as well as integrating its marketing offering with on-line services.
Commenting on the appointment, Cooper said: "Digital print solutions are reliable and cost-effective, meaning that print is now easily accessible and quick to market, making it an incredibly powerful communication tool and a vital part of the marketing mix."
He added: "My goal is to work closely with our customers to develop print solutions that integrate well with other media to maximise return on investment, build brand credibility and support their business objectives.
"It’s important we get the message to our customers that we are here to help them achieve their goals and will use whatever media necessary to maximise return on investment."
Privately owned Pureprint group employs 170 staff and has a turnover of £20m.
