The investment in the two machines comes as part of ongoing expansion at the group, which includes a new 186sqm digital printing department.
Mark Handford, chief executive of Pureprint Group, called the spend "the third and most exciting phase of our current investment programme".
"We can now produce medium and small runs on our environmental papers with a 95% reduction in waste and a significant reduction in cost," he said.
The Indigo 5500s have been installed with a dedicated finishing facility and have been producing a wide gamut of print including fine art and accounts.
Aaron Archer, group technical manager at Pureprint Group, said the new machines have "more than doubled capacity".
He added: "The HP Indigo presses are producing some challenging work alongside corporate and marketing materials in short runs."
The company also anticipates the revamped digital department will bolster the numbers of services the printer offers.
Archer said: "It provides our diverse client base with new ways of communicating with their own customers through advanced marketing technologies."
"Web-to-print systems have matured to the point where they are simple to deploy, allowing our customers to be more effective with their marketing materials through customisation," he added.
Pureprint Group's investment in its digital department follows the opening of a dedicated B1 perfecting plant in May of this year.
The 1,800sqm site houses kit including a 10-colour B1 Heidelberg Speedmaster and a 14-station PUR perfect binder.
