The manufacturer invited printers to come along to its Bedford HQ and put the 2,700sph press through its paces by bringing their typical – or most difficult – jobs to print.
The Jet Press is now installed, and has been booked out for the entire month of May for in-depth sessions, taking up a whole morning or afternoon slot, with potential customers.
“We are fully booked and have a waiting list, but we realise that sometimes people's plans change so we can still hopefully fit some more people in,” said digital printing and press systems product manager Mark Stephenson.
“The list of people coming includes commercial printers and some packaging printers, and ranges from SMEs, who are our prime market for the Jet Press, to some reasonably large printers.”
There are currently three installations of the Jet Press 720S in the UK, at Emmerson Press, Greenshires and Kingfisher Press.
Fujifilm is highlighting the 1.3 second makeready times on the press, as well as the print quality it can achieve. Stephenson said the sessions would also give the manufacturer a chance to explain the most effective way to produce jobs using the systems on the press.
“We can talk to people about how we would handle their work. It is different from litho because we can run in collated mode, for example," he explained. “There are time savings in finishing and workflow. That’s when the penny drops, when people can see how they can revolutionise what happens within a shift.”
There are still spaces available on the three days when Fujifilm will host a conventional open house for multiple attendees on 4, 11, and 18 May.
The firm is hosting an open day for staff from all divisions of the business today (28 April) ahead of opening its doors to printing industry visitors next week.
