The open house will take place over 21 days in May, at Fujifilm’s Bedford facility.
“It’s a different approach and we don’t think anyone in the industry has ever done this,” explained Fujifilm Graphic Systems UK managing director Keith Dalton. “The Jet Press is a fantastic beast. We’re going to say to people ‘bring as many jobs as you like, and bring us your most difficult jobs’, it’s like having a personal open house. The idea is that by doing this we can help educate the industry about what’s possible.”
Printers will be able to book slots on the press and put it through its paces for a whole morning or afternoon over the course of the month. Conventional open house days will also be held on 4, 11, and 18 May.
Dalton highlighted makeready times of under two seconds, ultra-high quality output, and reliability as key differentiators for the 2,700sph B2-format press.
“When you look at the number of net copies on the floor, people are achieving more, because there’s almost no makeready. People are switching from simple to incredibly difficult jobs in just 1.3 seconds,” he stated.
“The colour gamut is fantastic, as is the fine detail and the reproduction of tints. Our users are reporting 90% uptime.”
Fujifilm has more than 80 installations worldwide of the press in a wide variety of applications, including commercial printing and packaging. UK customers Emmerson Press, Greenshires and Kingfisher Press will also be speaking in a panel discussion at the upcoming PrintWeekLive! event in Coventry next month.
“We are so impressed about what this press is achieving at our customers, we want to let them talk to the PrintWeekLive! audience directly,” Dalton added.
Installation of the Jet Press 720S in Bedford will take place during April. After the open house event the press is destined to be installed at an as-yet-unnamed UK customer.
