The Kettering firm quietly installed the System G38 press last year without fanfare, but has now gone public about its investment with a post on LinkedIn.
The Komori System G38 web has inline H-UV LED curing which means there is no need for the usual energy-intensive and space-consuming hot air dryer associated with web offset presses.
The compact press has a maximum web width of 965mm and a 625mm cut-off.
Maximum printing speed is 30,000sph.
Sterling Solutions’ G38 is fitted with a folder and sheeter for flexibility of output options.
In the LinkedIn post, which includes a time-lapse video of the installation, the firm states: “As a major part of our efforts to be more sustainable, we installed the G38, a powerful web printer – for the same amount of energy we used previously, we can now print twice the quantity.”
The press is one of only two in Europe, the other is installed at a printer in the Czech Republic.
Sterling Solutions offers a range of “intelligent print” services including digital, litho and wide-format printing, alongside storage and fulfilment.
It was an early adopter of Heidelberg Speedmaster long perfecting presses, and was the first company in the UK to have two XL 105 long perfecting models back in 2008.
The £24m turnover firm employs around 137 people and recently recruited Paul Stevens as managing director of Sterling Marketing Services.
He joined from Paragon and has extensive industry experience including roles at Go Inspire Group, St Ives Direct and Howard Hunt.
