The 1.6x2.4m device, which was bought from AG/CAD for £90,000, will be installed at the Liskeard, Cornwall-based firm’s premises later this month.
The X7-1624C will enable the business to cut and crease a wide range of material including folding boxboard, corrugated board, Re-board, polyprop, plastics and Foamex.
The machine is also specified with a milling router which is capable of routing acrylics, Dibond and a range of other substrates.
Director Glenn Wrigley said: “We’ve grown well in the past 12 months through our online sales. We do a lot of work in the exhibition sector and this investment will help us do more creative signage solutions for that sector.
“We’ll try and encourage some of those customers to move onto the cardboard exhibition products that can be recycled.”
The business is also having K-Cut Vision installed and AG/CAD Kasemake software will be added to its graphics department.
“The Kasemake software is great for doing exhibition stand design. We’ve trained on that already and have been amazed at how powerful it is for quite an easy to use program. It will hopefully give us an edge,” said Wrigley.
“AG/CAD have been really helpful from the start, from the technical role of managing the machine through to the financing. I expect we’ll be long-term customers.”
Print 2 Media, which was established in 2008, employs four staff and has a turnover of around £400,000.
The firm produces signage, display stands, banners, wallpaper, POS, posters, leaflets and business cards for customers including event organisers and B2B customers.
Last year the business laid claim to being the first printer in the world to accept online payment by virtual currency Bitcoin. Wrigley said the venture has proved a success so far, with a number of orders being paid for in this way.
