The 1.3x2.5m device, which is driven by K-Cut Vision Pro, was bought from AG/CAD and will be installed at the Ferndale-based firm’s 976sqm facility next week. The business is also getting two licenses of AG/CAD Kasemake software for its design studio.
Managing director Darren James said the investment would complement a Trotec laser it bought in September last year to carry out intricate jobs and rapid prototyping of industrial graphics and membrane switches.
He said: “The addition of this DYSS cutter will open things right up for us. We had previously been subbing out cutting Foamex, PVC and things like that so this is going to revolutionise what we do and the work that we get in is going to change massively.
“The DYSS is like an extension to our Trotec laser. That has helped us to dip our toes into the water and the DYSS will take it to another level."
The business also looked at alternatives from Zund and Summa but found the DYSS device to be the best match for its requirements.
“AG/CAD have been fantastic. They have answered all of my questions and been really knowledgeable and helpful. My guys went for training last Friday and absolutely loved it, they thought the Kasemake software was absolutely amazing,” said James.
The company has also recently invested in a CR Clarke line-bending device to enable it to fold materials such as acrylics and Foamex. It also operates a Canon Océ Arizona 350 GT, an Arizona 480 GT, a Roland Soljet Pro III XC-540, five screen printers and finishing equipment including platens, cutters and a wide-format guillotine.
Screentec, which has 28 staff, was established in 1998 as a trade screen printer. This type of work still makes up around 50% of the firm’s £1.3m turnover while wide-format digital printing, which it branched into around eight years ago, accounts for around 30%, up from 20% last year.
The business provides a range of finishing services and produces industrial graphics, membrane switches, POS, ringbinders and stationery for a wide spectrum of customers nationwide.
