Precision Printing Co buys Jupiter kit as short-run work soars

B2 printer Precision Printing Co has installed a Jupiter laminator from Encore Machinery.

According to production director Andy Skarpellis, the machine was installed to handle the company's increasing short-run work, which has led to the installation of four HP Indigo presses – a 7000, a 7500 and two 5000s.

He said: "In the past seven years, we have embraced the concept of short-run digital printing to the full. Laminating is an integral part of the service we offer our customers. The volumes could be as low as one personalised laminated copy."

The machine can produce up to 5,000 B3 sheets an hour and features an infeed decurling roller.

"We won a significant order to laminate smaller sheets and due to the time frame, we could not have undertaken the job without the Jupiter. As soon as it was installed it worked solidly for three months, 24 hours a day, seven days a week," Skarpellis added.

The Barking, Essex-based company is currently in its 45th year. As well as litho and digital printing it has moved into the cross-media marketing and web-to-print arenas.
