The 30-staff business has replaced its aging prepress equipment with a Kodak Magnus 400 Quantum four-page CTP and opted for a multi-year Thermal Direct plate deal which cuts out chemical use, boosting the company's green credentials.
Portobello also installed Kodak's Prinergy workflow to increase throughput and help meet its long-term strategy of full JDF compatibility. The company has also invested in Kodak's Insite Storefront web-to-print software to bolster its range of one-to-one marketing and variable data print services as well as offering customers a secure and easy to use online ordering system.
Operations director Iain Storey said: "We have had a number of conversations with clients and they are very excited about the possibilities that are opening up to them. A major element of the process has been the installation and testing to get the system up and running. Kodak has given us great support."
Storey said that being able to buy everything from one vendor gave the company confidence. "We like the fact that we will have both the workflow and web-to-print solution from Kodak. This means we can be confident that all the elements will work together seamlessly and we can have the services operational as smoothly as possible," he added.
The £4m-turnover business prints commercial work for a range of blue chip, SME and charity customers.
