Polestar is one of the largest print suppliers of city maps for The Geographers A-Z Map Company. The order follows the successful production of several county atlases for the publishing company.
The A-Z atlas of London order is for a 368pp full-colour book produced sheetfed and adhesive bound. It is produced twice a year with each print run in excess of 100,000 copies.
Meanwhile, an ex-Polestar Wheatons employee has won an unfair dismissal case against the firm and will receive more than 17,000.
Bindery manager Clive Martin was dismissed on 30 January having tendered a resignation on 23 December. Polestar contended that it was a fair conduct dismissal, but the tribunal ruled that it was unfair procedurally and substantively and defects were not cured by an appeal.
Martin was found to have been suffering from stress-related illness and his resignation should not have been accepted, ruled the tribunal, meaning he was dismissed expressly and not constructively.
Polestar did not follow its disciplinary procedure and this was a fundamental breach of contract.
