The Intimus Degausser ensures complete removal of confidential data like pictures, films, presentation, financial calculations or even banking and thus rule out the threat of data abuse. It guarantees absolute obliteration of data from the hard disk making it impossible to restore.
Present at the launch was Erich Berthold, regional sales head APAC, Martin Yale. He expressed his delight at launching the product in India. "I am sure that with PB’s experience in handling the core sectors in India, the Intimus Degausser would be a huge success."
PB would provide accessories, spare parts and after-sales services for the product. The series is priced between Rs 7 to Rs 20-lakhs. Our target market would mostly be the service sectors like banking, financial, insurance and telecom besides government where data security is a critical part of the data management process.
KM Nanaiah, managing director at Pitney Bowes India, said: "Data loss is even more costly than data acquisition; the Degausser will destroy the sensitive data in the hardware that is to be disposed off."
The Intimus offers a wide range of products. Degausser Intimus 8000 is suitable for all IT departments, offices or midrange companies with high security needs. Degausser Intimus 9000 is a product for larger offices like IT departments, companies, or even service providers while the Intimus HDD crusher 1000 is a solution that adds physical security to every degausser.
The intimus 1000 physically destroys the hard disk drive by bending, breaking and mangling the components of the drive.
In 2007, it was reported that in India 3,80,000 tons of e-waste is generated from discarded computers, televisions and mobile phones. This figure is expected to go up to 800,000 tons by 2012. According to PB, Degausser will help to dispose e-waste safely.
