New Solution Engineering launched its new model at Fespa in Berlin last month and the first one in the UK arrived at an undisclosed location in the Midlands last week.
The device costs just over £80,000 and is aimed at markets including warehousing, shipping, food, beverage, storage and gifts.
It prints directly onto uncoated or coated media for the customisation of corrugated card and board, pre-cut folding boxes and craft cartons.
New Solution Engineering sales director Stewart Bell said 10 to 15 UK companies have expressed an interest in ordering the equipment.
“Perfect Colours first saw the Multi LG at Fespa and were immediately impressed with the quality and speed combination,” said Bell.
“They have a long-standing reputation for service and reliability so we are proud to work with them to introduce the first machines in the UK.”
Perfect Colours sales director Jon Telling added: “Manufacturers involved in the packaging segment, in addition to companies that are seeking innovation in their printed packaging, as well as print service providers wishing to enter the market or offer extra print services to their existing customer base, will want to see and test this exciting new printer.
“Our demonstration printer will be installed at the Perfect Colours Innovation Centre in Sheffield shortly and we will offer demonstrations on the NS Multi LG from July onwards.”
Target users of the machine are trade printers, corrugated board suppliers and box manufacturers looking to produce short runs of around 400 to 500.
“There's not really a machine in the market under the £300,000 mark. This is a single-pass – not a scanning – printer. It runs at nine to 18 metres per minute and at 42 inches wide,” said Bell.
“Big growth in the corrugated market prompted the launch along with a boom in customisation, personalisation and e-commerce.”
The five colour (CMYKK) machine features a 1,200mm media width, a 1,066mm print area, print speeds of up to 300mm/sec and a resolution of up to 1,600dpi.
