The South London-headquartered business becomes the first UK reseller to distribute the Inca SpyderX, after Inca announced it would be setting up a reseller network earlier this year.
In May, the Truepress Jet W3200UV was rebadged as the SpyderX and Spain-based Digital HiRes and Sweden-based Schneidler Grafiska became its first European resellers.
It officially began reselling on 1 October. Pricing could not be revealed.
Telling said: “Someone I knew spoke to Inca product manager Laura Bannister at Fespa who said she was looking for a UK dealer. My friend suggested Perfect Colours and I was introduced to Laura and asked to come down and see the machine.
“The thing I really love is that it is made in the UK, which is a real bonus. I like the speed, the productivity, the quality and the interface is really nice.
“There is definitely a gap for it in the market. You’ve got lots of low-end kit and then some very high-end kit and it sits somewhere in the middle, which is quite nice really.”
Inca’s printers, including its Spyder 320 and 2015-launched Onset X series, which are sold exclusively by Fujifilm, are manufactured at its headquarters in Cambridge. The Onset series is sold exclusively by Fujifilm.
The 3.2m-wide SpyderX prints at a maximum speed of up to 230sqm/hr. It has an optional roll-to-roll module and six colours plus white, using UV curable inks.
Telling said it will take a little while to spread the word about the machine but it would soon be possible to sell about one a month.
“We’ve started the ball rolling with the promotions, which may generate a little interest, but the normal modus operandi is our sales people knocking on doors saying ‘I’m having a look at your workflow and facility and this is what you need’. You have to prove the concept,” he said.
Inca Digital chief executive John Mills said he was “delighted” that Perfect Colours is joining Inca’s network of resellers.
71-staff Perfect Colours has offices throughout the UK and just closed off its financial year with a turnover of just less than £24m, £6m more than last year.
It is now the only wide-format supplier in the EMEA that is an HP Platinum Partner and supplies wide-format machines from the likes of HP, Epson and Mutoh.
Earlier this year, it replaced 215 wide-format printers with HP models in Staples’ stores throughout the country over a seven-week period.
