The conference, which took place at The Royal Institution of Great Britain, gathered senior corporate reporting professionals, as well as figures from the investing, media and campaigning sectors.
Mason addressed those attending and challenged the suggestion that the electronic distribution of reports was both more effective and more environmentally friendly.
Paul Scott, managing director of CorporateRegister.com, which organised the event, added: "Despite the march of electronic media, a printed report is still the mark of a serious business document and remains the preferred medium for many readers."
Following the conference, an awards show recognising apects of corporate responsibility took place at The Mayfair Hotel in London.
Romona Harron-Harding, corporate social responsibility (CSR) account director at Park Communications, said the awards demonstrated "the growing importance of CR reporting as an integrated business strategy and communication tool with many still preferring the printed medium".
At the event, Mason presented the ‘Best Integrated Report' award to Novo Nordisk A/S.
Companies represented at the conference included Deloitte LLP, HSBC, Coca Cola, ITV, KPMG, Virgin Media and Vodafone.
