Johnson spent the day at Plymouth's Pepper Communications while Christopher Head took on the chief executive role in London, one that included a meeting at the House of Commons and a visit to print company 1st Byte in east London.
Head, who was highly commended at last year's BPIF PrintWeek Excellence Awards, left Johnson in the capable hands of his team at Pepper, who put him through his paces in the company's bindery and on a Heidelberg Speedmaster 74 press.
Commenting on his day, BPIF's Johnson said he enjoyed going back to Plymouth and meeting the team at Pepper Communications.
"It is important to remember the people behind the processes in printing. It is very much a team job, all working together to ensure a top quality end result. I would like to thank Pepper Communications for showing me the ropes – I had a fantastic day as an apprentice and would highly recommend it for young people wanting to break into the print industry," he added.
Head said: "I had an amazing day as BPIF chief executive. It was great to meet the friendly staff at BPIF and to see a new publication come hot off the press."
