Oc increases wide-format capacity with latest Arizona GT flatbed

Oc has taken on rivals Durst and EFI Vutek with the latest configuration in its Arizona family, the Arizona 550 GT flatbed.

The Arizona 550 GT can print at a resolution of up to 1,440dpi, at speeds of up to 40.2sqm an hour, when in rigid mode.

It also features an express print mode that can output up to 67sqm an hour, which is nearly treble the productivity of the highest speed on the Océ's existing Arizona 350 GT.

According to the Dutch manufacturer, the machine, which has a list price of around £160,000 in the UK, is between 30-40% cheaper than comparable UV flatbed systems on the market.

Derek Joys, DGS programme manager at Océ UK, claimed the Arizona 550 GT could "open doors at companies where previous models in the Arizona range had not ticked all of the boxes".

He added: "It's a proven platform but the 550 GT takes it to the next level."

Océ is primarily pitching the machine at screen and digital printers that, according to Joys, are looking for a "higher capacity" than the previous mid volumes that the other Arizonas in the range offer.

Although designed as a flatbed system, the 550 GT, which can print on a wide variety of rigid substrates up to 1.25x2.5m, also offers a roll media option with the ability to print on flexible substrates such as vinyl and banners up to 2.2m wide.

It features the company's VariaDot imaging technology, which enables its printheads to produce dots of variable sizes. In addition, it includes a white ink option for under-printing for non-white media and over-printing for backlit applications on transparent media.
