Nonius develops outdoor transfer paper

German Encad seller Nonius has developed an ink-jet transfer paper for permanent outdoor graphics, which can be applied to uneven and curved surfaces.

The paper allows any wide-format image produced on an Encad printer to be applied. It can be used to transfer waterproof and light-resistant images onto a variety of substrates, including textiles and wood.

The Encad prints a mirror image of the final display onto the transfer paper and the image is then laminated onto the required substrate.

Nonius wanted to compete in a market previously dominated by non-water based inks.

"We felt we were missing out on a potentially huge market," said managing director Hans Tollkien.

One of Nonius first applications was the permanent graphics on a Mercedes Smartcar. The material is guaranteed to last five years or more.

The paper is available immediately and priced at 7.75 (e12.75) per metre.
