News titles switch to Polestar plants

Its been a big week for Polestar, which has commissioned the second gravure press at Sheffield while other group plants were busy printing their first Sunday supplements for The Telegraph Group.

Greaves handled the main Sunday Telegraph Magazine while its A5 TV listings guide was handled by Chantry.

Polestar won back the Telegraph work late last year, at the expense of St Ives and Gruner+Jahr.

The Telegraph's Saturday supplements, currently printed in Germany at G+J, will move to Polestar Sheffield in September.

Telegraph Group publishing director Paul Brady said: "It is good to be printing in the UK again and we are particularly pleased to be renewing our relationship with Polestar. We are very excited by what the group now has to offer across its sites, in terms of technology and service."

At Sheffield the second Cerutti has been commissioned, producing the Mail on Sunday's Night & Day magazine as its first live job.

Managing director Stephen Clark said that the first press was performing beyond expectations: "Using what we have learned during its start-up process, we have every confidence that the second press will also provide the levels of productivity and quality we require, on schedule."

The plant's third Cerutti is currently being installed, with commissioning scheduled for July.
