Oc has launched a new range of wide-format printers for the engineering and design reprographic market.
The firm hopes the new TDS machines, which can print up to 13 linear metres per minute, will help it retain its dominance in the technical document market, where it claims to have a 60% share of the market.
The TDS range consists of three models the 400, 600 and 800. The laser printers use an LED exposure system. A number of options including scanners and finishing equipment are also available.
The TDS 800 is aimed at reprographics and quickprint firms such as Service Point, Call Print, Kall Kwik and Prontaprint. Oc claimed that the model it replaces, the TDS 9800, had 80% of the market.
It also claimed that 60% of these machines go to print-for-pay sites rather than end-users.
For these sites it comes with the firms Repro Desk software, which is able to accept job files with the folding, finishing and format set up by the client if they are using an Oc application such as Engineering Exec.
The TDS 600 offers a print speed of 5m per minute and a resolution of 400dpi.
The TDS 400 is aimed at in-house users, can produce two A0 prints per minute and is the first machine in its class to offer 600dpi plain paper printing.
The firm has also introduced a new colour machine. The CS5090 is an eight-colour thermal ink-jet machine based on Encads NovaJet 850.
The 5090 is focused on job printers we want to supply all their requirements, said wide-format printing systems business unit director Steve Wilson. We understand their need to provide short turnaround time and 24/7 service. We supply tailored support for those environments.
