"We can't wait for it to go in, it's going to increase our die-cutting capacity by 50%," said Hainault general manager Peter Fitzgerald.
The investment in the Drupa-launched SPeria 106-E, set to go in by the end of May, has been driven by growth in the firm's direct mail work.
"We had a paper device added to it, so that we can cut thin stocks right down to 80gsm. We also opted for the ultrasound double sheet detector," said Fitzgerald.
The spend will also include an additional 300m leased unit, to allow the trade finisher to house all die-cutting, folder/gluing and handwork in one dedicated factory, one door from its main site.
