MetalFX System 2.0 offers a range of three new base colours, including two silvers suitable for coating, sealing and laminating.
MFX Silvercoat base uses a "non-leafing" ink and the firm claims that rather than losing the metallic lustre when sealed, varnished or laminated the coatings actually improve its brilliance. It is only suited for offset print, as is the second new ink Silvercoat Spot Metallics. Using the Silvercoat formulation, this is a range of metallic spot colours designed for coating and in applications where the original five-colour MetalFX CMYK over silver process isn't suitable. Lastly is the firm's gold base, which it demonstrated with Heidelberg at Print 05 in Chicago in September.
MetalFX is offering a discount for firms purchasing the system, including existing users wishing to upgrade, if they order before the end of the year
