MDA Creative closes after contract loss cuts turnover by 55%

Commercial printer and advertising specialist MDA Creative has gone into administration after losing one of its biggest contracts.

Alan Tomlinson and Paul Barber of insolvency practitioner Begbies Traynor were appointed to the Stockport-based company on 16 December 2010.

MDA's 29 employees were made redundant prior to the appointment, when it closed its doors on 2 December.

According to the administrator, 55% of MDA's turnover came from food retailer Nisa-Todays (Nisa Local); however, in 2010 it lost the work, causing a "dramatic downward effect on cashflow".

A spokeswoman for Begbies Traynor said: "We are actively seeking a buyer for the business and assets, and there have been a number of parties who have expressed an interest so far."

Although MDA Creative was incorporated in 1986, it had operated as a partnership for many years prior.
